9 Things To Do During Your CEO Day

We’ve all seen business owners post all about their CEO days on their Instagram stories. But what does that even mean?

A CEO day is one day where you work ON your business instead of IN it.

Whether you’re a new entrepreneur or you run a multi-faceted, thriving business, you deserve (and need) a CEO day.

In this post, we’re sharing 9 things that you can do during your next CEO day so that you can take a break from the day-to-day tasks and focus on your business as a whole!

1. Review your finances

Bookkeeping is an area of our business that we tend to neglect until it’s tax season.

However, maintaining your books up-to-date and receipts organized is one of the best things you could do for your business (and peace of mind).

You may also use your CEO day to revisit or create your business budget, update your revenue goals, or review your expenses.

2. Clean up your folders

When most of your work happens on your laptop or desktop, our folders and files can get very messy, very fast.

We recommend using your CEO day to declutter your digital workspace.

Keeping your desktop and downloads organized will help you be more productive by allowing you to focus on the task at hand and not frantically search for a file in your messy folders.

3. Run a systems audit

Auditing your business systems simply means scheduling in a few hours or a full day to check in on how your business is operating.

There’s so much value in reevaluating your systems regularly and making sure they’re supporting you in scaling your business.

Use your next CEO day to check in on your business’ systems. Click on the graphic below to download our guide of the 5 steps you need to take to run a systems audit!

4. Work on internal projects

As entrepreneurs, we can easily get wrapped up in the day-to-day tasks that we forget to work on those bigger projects.

These projects can be anything from updating your website’s about me page to switching your project management tool to creating an email sequence for your next launch.

Keep a list of the projects that you want to work on so that you know where to start on your CEO day.

5. Set up automations

If you manually send emails to your email list or manually post to Instagram, you’re doing it all wrong.

Automating your content calendar can help you save so much time, energy, and headaches.

During your next CEO day, ask yourself: What processes can I automate in my biz so that I can make more time for the things that are in my zone of genius? Then set those automations.

6. Catch up with your team

Your CEO day can be a great way to touch base with your team and catch them up with business updates.

How is your team doing? Do they need support in any way? Do they have what they need to carry out their tasks?

You should ask or provide feedback, extend your support, or review business goals.

7. Update your analytics

Do you track your weekly or monthly metrics? Your next CEO day is the perfect time to update your numbers.

Some metrics you may want to track in your business are social media engagement, website traffic, and email marketing numbers.

We recommend tracking your numbers inside a spreadsheet and updating them on your CEO day!

8. Create your schedule

If you schedule your CEO day early in the week, then creating your schedule for the week ahead is a great thing to do on CEO day.

When you start the week knowing exactly which tasks you need to tackle to move your business forward, you’ll be so much more productive.

This is a great time to schedule all of your meetings, workshops, or airplane mode content creation time!

9. Map out new lead magnets or offers

We all get those creative ideas during the week.

“Ah. That would be a great freebie!”

“I just thought of the perfect name for a course.”

“This would be a great addition to my product suite.”

We hope you’re writing these ideas down as they come in so that when CEO days come around, your ready to map out your next lead magnet or paid offer.

Pro tip: When you’re mapping out the details, be sure to get clear on who your freebie or offer is for and what the goal behind it is.

the recap

We know how easy it is to get so caught up in the day-to-day tasks that we forget to focus on our businesses as a whole.

Putting on your CEO hat and working on your business is critical to growing and scaling your business. The more often you do this, the more you push the needle forward in your business and tackle all of your business goals.
