1. Cold outreach
One of the best things we did for our business in 2020 was launching without social media or a website.
Yup. Unruly Media Group didn't start on the interwebs.
Our biggest flex? We became SO comfortable and confident in selling and pitching ourselves. Therefore, we didn't place our work's value on the number of Instagram followers we had.
Don't get us wrong. Social media presence is a great way to market your business and tap into new audiences.
But we knew we delivered results to our clients, and no amount of followers was going to change that.
One of the questions we get asked a lot is, "How did you do it? How did you get clients without having a business online presence?
Cold outreach.
No, we didn't pull a Scam Likely, but we did reach out to people who seemed like potential clients, starting with the people who we admired and wanted to work with.
We contacted them and informed them about our marketing services and asked if they were interested.
Don't be afraid to put yourself out there! Your services could be exactly what another business or entrepreneur is missing or looking for.
You never know.
2. Warming up our existing network
Coming from a corporate background of 15 years, we had already established a network. And you can bet big bucks we leveraged it.
We used that network of people who were already familiar with our previous work and started making them aware of our services and pitching to them.
By using our personal LinkedIn and Instagram accounts and connecting to our friends and mentors, we were able to rapidly grow our client list last year.
Don't underestimate the power of networking.
3. Getting real specific about who our client is
The fastest way to finding clients that are a perfect fit is by knowing your audience and target client extremely well.
By having a solid foundation of your offerings and understanding your dream clients' struggles and needs, you'll be able to connect with them and serve them!
What is your dream client struggling with?
How does your product or service fix that problem?
What are some of their concerns when it comes to investing?
Why are YOU the best person to help them?
What's holding them back?
These are great questions to ask yourself if you're unclear about who your ideal client is or are stuck on what to offer them!
4. Hiring strategically
Behind every amazing business, is a kickass team holding it up.
When you're taking on clients, having a team to help you in supporting those clients can be essential.
We know trusting a part of your business to a stranger can seem terrifying. We won't lie to you, there are good hires and there are bad ones, too. It's all part of the journey! The good news? This is your biz & your dollaz! You get to make the rules.

What do you need time to do that will make your biz more profitable?
Do you share similar POVs and values as the person you’re considering?

We contribute a huge part of our success to using online business tools that help us work smarter, not harder. From project management tools, to client and team communication tools, to social media scheduling tools, we sure know to pick them.

We face new challenges every single day, hear 5 "no's" before we hear one "yes," and get it wrong before we get it right.
